Boumeester Cleans Up, McGrath Sweeps Round 9

By: Rolfe Otterness

Brodie Boumeester cleaned up in three A classes as another round of the Super Series was completed on a warm August day.   Boumeester’s feat was impressive as he won 5 out of 6 motos to take the top prize in 14-24, 250 and Open A.   Brandon Espe-Tiegs was able to take that one moto win in 14-24 A to stop Boumeester’s total domination.   Wyatt McGrath topped that feat by winning all his motos in four classes to be the top B class rider of the day-  Schoolboy 2, 14-24B, 250 B and Open B.  All this winning was jeapordized by a tremendous rainfall that hit the area at the end of July with over 8 inches of rain measured at the track!  The torrent of rain caused a lot of damage to the track and surrounding infrastructure that had to be repaired before this round of the Super Series could be held.   Some long days of hard work and many volunteers helped shape things up enough so that the race could go on.   One very noticeable change to the track was the reshaping of the Collarbone Hill area which now features a transverse jump across the face of the hill which is lower down the incline.

Gavin Pettit charged to an early lead in the first 250 C moto while Jett Lewison and Spencer Hein settled into a battle over second.   Pettit had the edge and pulled out a gap over Lewison over the next few laps and took the win with a good-sized lead.   Lewison held tight to second with Hein scoring third a couple seconds adrift.  Tyler Maas moved up late in the moto and grabbed fourth over Jack Shawley.   Cody Hill snared the holeshot to lead early in moto 2 but was pressured for a couple laps by James Schaffer.  Finally Schaffer was able to make a move into the lead shortly after the halfway point in the moto then pulled out a few seconds by the checkered.  Hein was duking it out with Lewison for third for much of the moto then stepped up on the last lap to take third for the moto and thus grabbed the overall win.  Jett Lewison trailed at the line for fourth with Mason Lewison fifth.

Carson Wittman slotted into the lead as the 85cc 9-12 pack hit turn one for their first moto.   Wittman was on a roll and held the lead all the way to checkered in a firm grip.  Tucker Couette and Brayton Wills were battling over second for the first half of the moto but Wills then took over and at the flag the order was Wittman out front with a gap over Wills, Couette and then Louis Oswald and Owen Hamilton running fourth and fifth.

Couette launched a holeshot in moto two but Wittman was not going to be denied and soon was by for good.  Couette then found himself under attack by his first-moto nemesis Wills.  Couette held him off for a couple laps but bobbled somewhere on the north side of the track and dropped back, leaving Wills to go on for second behind Wittman at the checkered.  Oswald held third over Leighton Oswald with Kamerson Hagedorn fifth.  Couette recovered for sixth.

Bentlee Walker had a strong day in the Schoolboy 1 class as he snapped up wins in both motos to take the overall score.   Kyler Hagedorn and Myles Mahowald ran 2-2 and 3-3 respectively to make the scoring easy while Colin Megaw and Cooper Couette had 5-4 and 4-5 moto scores on the way to the fourth and fifth overall placings.
