September 1st & 2nd

Henry Miller made a successful return to his roots as he hit the Spring Creek Super Series on a break from his schedule of Pro events, keeping sharp by racing Sunday’s Viking Clash in the 25 Plus A and Open A classes to win all his motos. Very much like days gone past when he was still riding under amateur status, but faster. He was challenged a bit in early laps but the pro circuit speed he has developed served him well as he pulled away from the pack. The other big shock of the day was that Wyatt McGrath only won all his motos in three classes instead of sweeping all eight motos! Still a good day though by anyone’s measure. Sunday’s race drew about 689 entries for the day while they dropped a bit to 562 on Monday. The weather was warm but thankfully free of rain on both days.

Looking at some classes in Sunday’s Viking Clash Tanner Schlegel popped off the starting line quickly to pull the pack through turn one as the 250 B class was dropped. He was maintaining the lead all through lap one while Bryce Rauner and Garret Becker provided pursuit. McGrath, who would have been the obvious choice to win based on past performances, crashed and was up and circulating slowly. Schlegel continued to lead with Rauner hanging onto second for the first half of the race but then went down briefly to allow Becker to displace him with Ryder Skodras moving in for third and pressuring Becker. Schlegel went on to take the win by about 10 seconds over Skodras who finally got the better of Becker on the last lap. Becker, Rauner, and Colton Frandsen rounded out the top five. Skodras roosted down the start straight to grab the lead in the next moto with Schlegel and Conner Klemenhagen falling in behind. Schlegel made a successful pass to lead the pack on the next lap but Skodras declined to accept defeat and kept pace with Schlegel for the remainder of the moto. When the checkered finally flew Schlegel took the win by about 4 bike lengths. Becker was some distance behind the leaders for third with Rauner a couple of seconds behind him for fourth while Klemenhagen took fifth.

Logan Lewis charged to grab the lead as the 30+ Vet B class took off for adventure. Lewis was able to hang onto the lead for a lap but Matt Meyers was strong on his KTM 125 and blitzed by on the next lap. Meyer started to build a lead as Lewis had to deal next with a challenge from Aaron Pendergast. Pendergast was on the move and took over second then ate into Meyers's lead and was out front at the flag. Meyers crossed the line next with Jay Sallstrom in third over Lewis and then Brandon Hallich.

Lewis led the pack around turn one again in the next moto but Meyers was on the gas, taking over out front then building a lead. Sallstrom found himself in third by the end of lap one and surged past Lewis on the next lap then ran well to try to keep Meyers in sight for the remainder of the race. Lewis, Pendergast, and Sam Brummond were tussling over third with Brummond getting the best of the other two for third. Lewis took fourth over Pendergast when they hit the finish line.

Parker Labeau put in a great ride to take the victory in moto one of the 65cc 7-11 class with a good-sized lead over Logan Wittman and Eli Bumgardner. Mason Weller and Braxton Johnson rounded out the top five in this class featuring 27 entries. The second moto started out with Lebeau snaring another holeshot to lead early but this time Bumgardner ran a bit better to mostly keep Lebeau in sight for the majority of the race. Wittman ran close for third and fourth while Landon Gottas took a nice fifth-place finish.
